Our History

Our Beginnings

PCF began in the early 1960s as a Sunday School outreach in the home of a local man.  As it outgrew his home it moved to the local school, Pakuranga Heights Primary.  Sunday School teachers from Tamaki Bible Chapel came to help.  As the Sunday School continued to grow a group of leaders from the Tamaki Bible Chapel felt led to plant a church in this new and growing community in Pakuranga.  Three lots of land were purchased on Udys Road and a youth hall was built.  It was known as the Pakuranga Heights Christian Youth Centre.  The Sunday School moved to this new site at 96 Udys Rd as well as a Boys and Girls Rally.  Occassional families services were also held in the youth hall.  A number of people from Tamaki Bible Chapel were now living in the Pakuranga neighbourhood.  The decision was made by Tamaki Bible Chapel to start a regular weekly worship service at Udys Rd.   We had our first 'Breaking of the Bread' service on 4th October 1970 and in 1971 we changed our name to become Pakuranga Christian Fellowship.  The Chapel building was officially opened in Sept 1974.

Serving God and Sharing the Gospel through the Years

We give thanks and praise to God who, despite our human weaknesses, failures and mistakes, has worked by the Holy Spirit in the lives of a multitude of people at PCF.

There have been those who have found Christ and those who have cut their teeth in service at PCF and are now serving God in various ministries all over New Zealand and overseas.  There have been a number of outstanding families and individuals who have served God faithfully at PCF over the last 50 years.  Through children's and youth work, missionary sending and support, womens and men's ministries, musicals, drama groups, family camps, the op shop, home groups, live streaming, children's camp ministries, school holiday programs, local and international outreach ministries and so much more, God has blessed us to have been able to serve him in at PCF these last 50 years.  We pray that he will equip and use us to continue serving him and bringing him glory in the decades to come.

We owe a debt of gratitude to the pioneers who had the vision to plant this church and to those who have put in so much time, love and labour into the running of it.

God has used PCF to reach many people with the Gospel.  We have had our part to play in the ongoing work of God in the world and we are very grateful to Him.

Revelations  7:12

We give thanks to God for all he has done and his faithfulness to the PCF church family over the last 50 years.

Our church has been involved in many ministries these past fifty years. We've had the privilege and opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ both here and overseas. Highlights include taking a number of teams to Fiji on a short term mission; involvement in camps, holidays programs, Carols in the Park, plus many community outreaches here in Pakuranga and beyond.

The Bible continues to be faithfully preached Sunday by Sunday as we grow in our love for God and his word. We also look to encourage all ages, both young and not so young, to participate in our church services through music, prayer and the many behind the scenes ministries.

We continue to place an importance on caring for each other, especially when we face life’s challenges, and we have a wonderful number of caring people in our church.
